This is a tumblelog, kinda like a blog but with short-form, mixed-media posts with stuff I like. Scroll down a bit to start reading, or a bit more to read more about me.
Youtube or vimeo search for “buchla” to get an idea.

That first one is Alessandro Cortini, occasional collaborator with Trent Reznor in the Ghosts sessions and live.

Holy crap, I think I just found the breakbeat equivalent to Space Dimension Controller, and he’s called Boxcutter. And I think they are both from Ireland, so hmmm, maybe it’s something in the water over there.
Actually there’s a lot that falls in this category, like all of Lady Gaga until very recently. Here’s another worthy example:
EOTS - We Are The People (Glasnost Remix) by glasnost
It’s Electro House/Indie Dance/Nu Disco crossover - fun and catchy.
Empire of the Sun - We Are The People (Stephan Jacobs Remix) by Stephan Jacobs
Woah! Stephan Jacobs brings the bass and takes this track to another level. I just heard this one the other day.
BTW, both of the above artists have a ton of free stuff on their Soundcloud pages.

Bit overdue here but worth it. I first learned of Space Dimension Controller through his goofy name and this review, and was sufficiently interested to explore further. I found an early EP on archive.org, which is kind of neat in a retro-electro-techno way but that’s only a prelude. On SDC’s Soundcloud page you get a bunch of ambient analog electronic noodling that could have been lifted straight off an early Aphex Twin record. I mean this as the highest possible compliment - very rarely since Richard D James’ limelight has a producer so young had such a masterful grasp on melody and production, or poured so much soul into the cold heart of techno music. Jack Tiraquon is 20 years old - to say I’m a little jealous of his talent and analog synth collection would be a small understatement.
The work SDC released in 2010 is the real reason I’m writing this post however. I listen to a lot of music so you don’t have to, ok… and I’ve never heard anything quite like this before. It fits into the structures of Detroit techno, you can hear the classic 808/909 drumkits, but wrapped around that is an organic groove and gorgeous analog synthesizers played with a virtuosity few electronic producers can match. Call it electro disco space funk, baby!

Space Dimension Controller - Transatlantic Landing Bay by Electric Zoo
Model 500 OFI (Space Dimension Controller Remix) by Chris Orr
That last one is a remix of an old Juan Atkins tune I think. You know, the guy who invented techno music 10 years before Space Dimension Controller was born?

The sound of “lovestep:” more warm analogs and glitched out vocals, less angry wobble.
Droppin’ massive bass, that is. I <3 Goddess Womp.
